Over a 20 plus year career in RSX, Machine Intelligence's principal software engineer, Bruce Mitchell, has written a considerable number of monographs, articles, and even one entire book about RSX programming.

The monographs and articles are not surprising for an Editor Emeritus of the Multi-Tasker.  The Multi-Tasker editors found early on that they needed not only the ability to edit, but to produce entire articles and issues from thin air.  The RSX programming textbook, however, is one of only three major works related to RSX that run over 100 pages in length.  (The other two are DEC documents; the RSX-11M System Logic Manual and the RSX to VMS Migration Manual.)

There is also a lot of other material here, including manuals for obsolete PDP-11 related equipment, monographs, DECUS symposium schedules, and whatnot -- all of it digitized by Machine Intelligence as a public service.  While most of it is from our own library, some of it has been lent by other users, some of it is from symposium tape transcriptions and from DECUS Proceedings, and some of it was made available by DEC in the glorious days when they still owned RSX.

All of the material here, with the exceptions of The Big Book of RSX Applications and The RSX-11M System Logic Manual is free.

These documents are in Microsoft Word 6 for Windows format. For info on why we use Word format, or how to get a free viewer for your system if you don't have Word, or if you are having trouble downloading document files, please see the document reference page.
